Morgan Quinn Ross

My research program examines how people use digital technology to weave communication into their lives. I draw on theoretical perspectives tied to two aspects of digital technology: mobility and identity. My work explicates how mobility affords opportunities to connect with (but also disconnect from) others anyplace-anytime as well as how mobile technology can become integral to core aspects of the self. To do so, I leverage a variety of traditional, naturalistic, and computational methods, with a focus on spatial analysis. Ultimately, I investigate how people balance connection and disconnection in daily life. I have published my work in outlets such as New Media & Society, Mobile Media & Communication, Psychology of Popular Media, Media Culture & Society, Computers in Human Behavior, Communication Theory, International Journal of Communication, Advances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science, Journal of Medical Internet Research, and Psychological Science.
